Pierluigi Rizzato has been a photographer for over twentyfive years, dedicating great passion and commitment to his work in nature photography. His images rely on a profound understanding of the characteristics of his subjects, which he has acquired through study and research, and patient observation on the field. The photographs, whose variety of colors and careful composition contribute to their surprising aesthetics, offer in addition a “scientific” reading of animal behaviour, because they “freeze” the subject in its natural movement. Fascinated by Africa, Rizzato was particularly awed by the Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania, where he returned many times to immortalize the great predators and their preys as they roam undisturbed through the savanna. Alaska, his other land of choice, was the source for his distinctive photographs of grizzly bears.
His photographs have earned him more than 240 awards abroad, winning photographic contests in 24 countries of the world, among which Argentina, Australia, Austrian, Belgium, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Holland, Singapore, Usa, Vietnam. Among all, it is standing out the Grand Prix of the Trierenberg Austrian Super Circuit, the largest annual salon of photography on the globe, more than 50.000 competing images by photographers coming from over 100 countries in 2005.
He contributed to Italy’s triumph in the “FIAP Nature” World Cup (South Africa 2001) and in the World Cup 2003 (Australia) in which he gained the first prize and again in the World Cup 2006 (Croatia) and in the World Cup 2008 (Spain), 4 times in a row..
